I believe this brings us to 29 co-sponsors. As for how many have been contacted. I would guess 100s. I think a better question may be: "How many have been contacted lately?" HAVE YOU CONTACTED YOUR CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVE TODAY? HOW ABOUT THE FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE?? This weekend, I'm going to get email addresses, snail mail address, and phone numbers for the 27 NY Reps who aren't cosponsors of H.R. 3240 and start writing them. I may not be one of their constituents but I am a NY voter. Pam

I didn't see any co-sponsors from OH on the list so I emailed a letter to the editor to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Columbus Dispatch, and Marysville Tribune. Will do more. Also emailed a letter to the Buffalo Reflex paper in MO. Have a friend that lives there and she suggested that. Compiling a list of NY papers and will try to match up which Congressman represents their district.
Is it better to hit the large city papers, small town papers, or just hit all of them? Also, will it help at all to contact a congressman/woman even though you are not a constituent of their district?
Pam
I just realized that I posted this post in the Sean Goldman forum. With Sean being reunited with his father, I think I should have posted this in the Main Foundation Forum. Moderators, please feel free to move this post if you think likewise. Thanks again and I apologize for the inconvenience.

I heard from a staffer in Congressman Scott Garrett's office today that Garrett (New Jersey's 5th District) has signed on a co-sponsor of HR 3240. Great job by all of your Bergen County residents who contacted his office. I believe we are up to 28 co-sponsors. Let's keep pushing. There's more work to be done and more co-sponsors to be added.

That is good. If we can only get some more and fast. I see there are still only two from NY. I'm trying but I don't think they are listening because I'm not one of their constituents.

Since I'm home buried in snow today, I e-mailed John Adler , congressman from 3rd district in NJ. I just got a generic autoreply thank you note from him...we'll see what he does.

Call him on the phone. If he isn't there, explain who you are, why you are calling and find out when he will be there so you can talk to him. Even though my US Rep is a co-sponsor, he gets a call from me every other week asking if he is doing anything to get other NY Reps to co-sponsor. Just don't give up. Pam

Ok.. I didn't expect much from him today since everything is closed due to the blizzard. I will be following up with him next via a phone call.

Are we still trying to get cosponsors for H.R.3487? There are only 6 listed on Thomas.

Just to let you know.. I left a message for Congressman John Adler yesterday (3rd district in NJ). I got a message from his office on my cell phone (I'm at work and was in a meeting at that time) saying "thank you for your message and your request will be sent to his legislative office in Washington DC " . I sent him a "thank You" for that message e-mail along with emphasizing that he needs to co-sponsor H. R. bill 3240 promptly. I'm not sure how to take this message but I got a live person calling me back. Is this a good thing that his Washington DC office will be contacted for my request? I will follow up with another phone call next week (I'm off on Monday for Presidents day .. but so are the Government offices) Let me know.
