The Bring Sean Home Foundation was formed to offer guidance and assistance to any person whose child or children have been kidnapped by a parent or guardian and taken out of their country of residence.

While the customary and usual term is "international child abduction" we prefer to call it what it is, kidnapping. A heinous crime punishable by criminal laws around the world.

Unfortunately many people, including journalists, lawyers, judges, public officials, and government bureaucrats prefer to use the term, "Custody Case." Even more disheartening for parents is that law enforcement agencies do not understand and enforce kidnapping laws where the kidnapper is a parent.

We hope through education and your assistance to change the way "international child abduction" is viewed and legally treated - It is International Kidnapping!

I wanted to stress ANY PERSON. While we seem to run across fathers losing their children more than mothers, mothers are also victims of this crime and should get the same attention.

Hi Bob,
I'm new to the forum but not the cause.   If I can help the foundation in any way please let me know. I'm a CPA in Denville, NJ if that helps.

Best regards to you,

I think if Brazil will not obey the hage convention laws.  We Americans should boycott the olympics.  Why would we want to send our families to this country and spend our money there.

I am praying for Sean to be returned to his Father.

Hi from Brazil

I just would like to tell you that we are glad that this case is over, and Sean is going back to USA. The brazilian public opinion was on dad's side of the story, because fathers can relate to that. I just think that kidnapping is a strong word, Sean was treated extremely well, was completely integrated to the brazilian culture, and wanted really bad to stay in Rio. He wanted so bad, that nobody let him to speak up, because he would strongly make a point in wanting to stay, and in doing so the case of going back to US would perish.
Some people would say that he was brainwashed, but if that is a brainwash, it was of love, caring and respect. This case was sui generis, one of a kind, I hope the american audience are able to weigh all the facts before taking sides. I hope that Sean's father will be wise enough to not cut all the ties to his old family (because after all, he'll grow old and may move back by his own will), and also hope that Sean gets integrated to his new culture. The path of the future is in the middle.
But the final truth is, in the lack of a mother, a son must be in the father's side. Please don't get angry and biased at the brazilian people and justice system, just imagine if the case was the other way around, it also would be difficult to get him back to Brazil. Sorry my english, and Merry Xmas to Sean's family. Probably one of the best Xmas ever!

Tudo bem Ronaldo? Bem-vindo. É complicado, mas faz muito sentido.

The main thing is to understand that everything only makes sense if your understand the international agreement, the Hague Convention. It says that any dispute must be dealt with at place the child lives. The judge there decides. It works this way so countries can prevent parents kidnapping their children. Until Thursday morning, Brazil was the only country in the world that signed the agreement and had never return one single child. But Brazil benefited because other countries were returning children taken from Brazil to other places. There are other children that Brazil needs to return now. If not, other countries will stop returning children taken from Brazil and that will be a nightmare for any Brazilian mother or father in Brazil married to a non-Brazilian. Get it?

Stick around and look at the resources in the website, you will find a lot interesting stuff and then you understand it better than many of the reporters covering this.

Hi Bob...I am a Canadian citizen, and my son was abducted to Japan almost 6 years ago. The response from the Canadian authorities I have contacted has been this is a "domestic" problem and not an "abduction". Imagine the pain of hearing that: my son was taken to another country, and my ex-wife is hiding him from me, refusing any contact. If that's not "abduction" , I don't know what is !! Anyway, it seems a lot more is being done about International parental abduction in the States as opposed to Canada. Do you have any experience/ advice as to what I should do up here in Canada ?
All the best,
Bill

Bill,  Have you contacted Murray Wood.  He is a very active Left-Behind parent in Canada working the child abduction issue, as his children were abducted to Japan in 2004.  If you want to contact me offline I can give you his email contact information.  Paul
