Attached are two letters sent in December by members of the House of Representatives' Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission to President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton. Let's hope that they honor the Commission's request to meet with David Goldman, Paul Toland, Patrick Braden and Tom Sylvester.

I think the Dateline scheduled for January 8 is going to pick up more momentum thus the WH, State and Congress will be compelled to act. I hope the Committees sitting on those 2 bills will also act on it as soon as session reconvenes this year. Nothing like a Patriotic Act to help ease some of the angst created by the Health Care bill passage.

Is there anything we BSH supporters can do to help make this happen?

Write and call your Congressman/woman and your two Senators and tell them you are asking for their help. The more they support the issue of international child abduction, the quicker it will be on the radar screen of the President and the Secretary of State.

There's a lot of good information on this topic in the following thread:

Word of mouth is the strongest tool to getting the news out besides the media. I would like to recommend that everyone get on their e-mails, Facebook walls, and Twitter to get all their friends, family and acquaintances (work, etc.) to watch the upcoming Dateline special. Follow up with links to this site specifically to threads of the bills. The homepage of this site with the new video is very compelling and should catch new eyes. Hopefully Dateline will also have Chris Smith talking about his bills.

And on the upnote - I asked a very good friend from Brazil his opinion on this situation and here is his answer:

"My two cents:
The few times I watched any Brazilian news regarding this whole ordeal I see them taking a very patriotic position: The boy's mother was Brazilian therefore he should stay in Brazil with the Brazilian side of the family, regardless of the fact that his dad is American and lives in the U.S. It looks to me that the Brazilian media played the story much like Fox News here: no matter what makes more sense, 'our' side is always the 'right' side. (let's not get political: no rebuttal about Fox, please... Smiley)

David Goldman seems to be a descent guy who got stuck in a very unusual situation. The Brazilian side of Sean's family also seems to be made up of good people who probably thought Sean would be better off with them and away from David whose image as father could have been as damaged as any father's reputation after a divorce.

My opinion which I share with most Brazilian relatives and friends I talked to is that the Sean should be with his father and I'm glad to see they are reunited."

I realize there are differences of opinion, but I have to disagree. Those who facilitate an abduction, try selfishly to keep a child stranded in another country by abusing the law, and then try to erase the father from his life are not "good people"!
