For 06 years, I tried to have video contact with my daughter and now for the first time, her mother in Rio de Janeiro has agreed to cooperate... Also, her mother started an initiative to prepare a new parenting agreement with me under Brazilian law, which would give me parenting time. There is no need for a new agreement and I did not agree to a new agreement, because the one signed and approved by the NJ court continues to be valid and should be honored based on The Hague. But the ongoing initiatives are certainly showing impact and I feel we are making small steps forward... Klaus

I wonder how much of an impact David and Sean's victory is having on her and other abducting parents in Brazil(?). Hopefully, a lot!

Dear all, The public pressure has helped that after 03 years without contact I am talking again to my daughter. Her mother allowed that I bought my daughter a cell phone, a trusted friend of mine in Rio delivered it to my daughter. I also got a local Rio phone number, which my daughter can dial and the call is being forwarded directly to my cell phone in the U.S. My daughter is very interested to talk to me and we are on the phone every 2-3 days for about 1/2 hour, which is a pretty long time for a 6-year old. We are also playing online games on www.orkut.com together, which she explains to me in Portuguese, I can even learn quite a few new Portuguese words from my 6-year old... My hope is that my daughter's own interest to be in touch with Daddy and eventually visit him will bring tangible results much faster than any legal process. At any rate, for now I am happy that I can talk to her easily and that she has an exclusive VIP number to call Daddy 24/7/365. In the long run, building trust and relation between her and me should bring us together in a much more painless way and maybe faster than going through the horrible courts with frustration after frustration. Thank you all for your support, it really has made a difference in my case... Thank you and God bless... Klaus

That is definitely a great small step forward. While a legal victory in the courts (that is swift and enforced) would be ideal in all cases, despite not having that, it is great that you can communicate with your daughter safely. I'm thrilled that she wants to talk to you and that her mother permitted it!

My son Caleb who is 5 yrs old was taken to Brazil illegaly by his mom. I have decided not to fight a legal battle and instead talk on the phone with him. I got a verizonwireless skype phone and I will be able to see him on the camera that way. His mom said she would allow this. I also am doing like you so my son will be able to communicate with me. My prayers are with you.
