phillyone,

Would you please do me a favor? I brought work home tonight that I'm working one. Deadlines
to meet.  Shit Storm Would you email or PM me the websites of those newspapers? When I get
caught up at work, I'll see how many words are permitted and how to submit letters and
get going on it. It won't take too long because I have them set up 3 ways and all I do is
just change the particular congressman's name. My email address is
pam.in.ny at gmail dot com. Feel free to email me if it is easier than sending a PM.

I sent out three letters to the editor this weekend to the following newspapers.
http://www.courierpostonline.com/
http://www.philly.com/inquirer/
http://www.nj.com/times/

If by chance anyone should happen to see that the letters are actually published,
please let me know. Currently, I have thirteen letters out, hoping that they will
be published and it's getting a bit difficult trying to check all the sites everyday.

Cross your fingers and say a few prayers that all of them get published (from an
out of stater), so that the word about H. R. 3240 gets out there.

Thanks!!!!

Thanks phillyone. Sometimes it can take up to two weeks before they get around to printing
it, if they print it at all. I sent one to a few papers in Western NY, targeting Congressman
Brian Higgins and that was over a week ago. A few papers, in and around Albany, NY, have yet
to print it after a month and the Columbus Dispatch in OH, has been over a month. My
guess is that they won't be printed and in a couple weeks, I'll do a resend. Tonight I sent
out to a couple papers in NH targeting Carol Shea-Porter.

Just got off the phone with the letters editor from the Trenton newspaper. Although they do
not publish letters from out of state, they are going to make a special exception with the
one that I sent to them. She also wanted to know if I was a member of an organization
and I told her about BSHF and the website. If her boss lets her print that information,
then whe will mention the foundation and website.

Finally, she mentioned that I should send the letter to the Atlantic City Press and Bergen Record.
Does anyone know off hand what US Rep might be in their readship?

Hi Pam,

Atlantic City's congressman is Frank Lobiondo. I'm not sure about Bergen county since it's way up north from me... I believe it's either Bill Pascrell or Steve Rothman. Can someone from N. Jersey help with this?

Thanks for calling Trenton Times. Great work!!!!

phillyone,

Thanks for letting me know who the Rep is in Atlantic City. I'm hoping to get
letters off to both this week.

I was suprised that the Trenton paper called me but they needed to make sure
that I was who I said I was and did indeed send the letter.  rolleyes  The lady
was very nice and we actually talked 10 minutes about BSHF and Holt. Smiley

Tom,

After reading your post, I called Garrett's DC office this afternoon. He is in
NJ so I explained to the gentleman who answered the phone that Garrett
has agreed to Cospon HR 3240. He directed me to the person who handles
that but she was out for the afternoon. I left her a message stating that
his name has yet to appear on the cosponsor list. Perhaps this might help.

I am so happy that half of these people who answer the phones don't ask
you your name or where you live. rolleyes

Thank you for the names of the Reps in northern NJ.

Hi Pam,

I've been researching about Bergen county. it appears it's been split into 2 districts.. District 5 which is Scott Garrett and district 9 Which is Steve Rothman.

It would make me feel better  Big Grin if I see another NJ congressman co-sponsor the bill..

Thanks so much for helping me with NJ. I don't know why this is a tough state  I thought all the congressmen from NJ would have lined up behind Chris Smith and signed H R 3240..

Hmm.. I'm scratching my head shocked

I'll look up the paper and see which town it is in and try and tag the reps closest. I don't know how big of a paper it is nor the territory it reaches but perhaps their site might have that info. I did call Garrett's office today. Smiley

It would make me feel better if we had the 50 cosponsors needed from any state with a few extra thrown in
there just for good measure.  Big Grin Look at all the states that aren't represented. That has me a bit worried
when HR 3240 hits the floor after leaving committee. I too thought that most congressmen/women would be lined up behind
Smith but I'm sure that they aren't putting this at the top of their agendas like we do.  angry

Hey, we haven't seen nor heard from Sashia. We need to help her with the Reps. that aren't listening to her.

I guess you're right.. there are other states we can push. I'm just trying to work on my state first (my congressman) . I am writing on the facebook walls of congressmen/women that you have given us. Hopefully more of those will come thru (we just need another 17 .. right? )
