Just called was asked if I was a member of a group and told her no that I am just a mom and that this is just a common sense resolution, just forget about politics's and use common sense.

I'm bumping this up....

And letting people know that some Bachome.org members met with several dozen legislators last week about HR3240 and H.Res.1326 and Rep. Ellison's staffer 'seemed interested'. As I dropped off information with him before, and need to follow up anyway via phone (that didn't happen last week), I also suggest if anyone has time to make a phone call this week, then please call him:

Keith Ellison [D-MN5]
Staffer: Welling Hall (he is the person you want to speak with)
Member of the Financial Services & Foreign Affairs Committees
P: 202-225-4755
F: 202-225-4886

I forgot the part in bold before.

Maxine Waters was on the target list and she now is a co-sponsor. I know we celebrated that elsewhere, but I thought I'd add it here so people don't call her Smiley

Didn't have time to call but was able to send him a fax. I'll follow up
with a call tomorrow and an email.

Here's a link to his Facebook page.

When you contact Sheila Jackson-Lee (TX18) remind her of her support for A Child is Missing INC. posted on her web site.

http://jacksonlee.house.gov/AppropriationsRequests/Child.htm

Then ask her as she supports this wonderful organization and in the past cosponsored H.R. 2518 Bring Our Children Home Act in 2007 for her to cosponsor H.R. 3240 and for her to actively work towards its passage.

Well, I've lost my voice, so I haven't been able to call at all this week, but I did get some responses today to my yesterday emails (attached Smith's February Dear Colleague Letter (plus text in email of what legislation does from that letter) and Aronson op-ed) to everyone I left paperwork with a few weeks back:

Rep. Hodes office (Derek Torrey staffer) emailed me in response to my most recent email: Thank you for your email and the information on H.R. 3240.  Our office is taking a look at the bill, and I’ll be in touch if I have any further developments to report.

Rep. Ellison's office (Welling Hall is the staffer I'd emailed, but apparently the real person to talk to is Stephanie Madden, who BACHome met with last week, oops, at least I heard back though): We are currently reviewing the possibility of co-sponsorship.

I'm glad they haven't said no yet, although I certainly wish they would say 'yes' alot faster!! As I know everyone else is, I am going to keep on them and hope to call next week, when I can be a bit more persuasive Wink

UD_student,

I've contacted Hode's office a few times and will send off an email and fax with
a follow-up phone call. Maybe with the two of us working on him, he'll sign. I'm
pretty sure that he is running for Senate and perhaps that is why he hasn't
taken in interest in cosponsoring.

Glad you posted his staffer's name. Smiley

Thanks for the great work!

Just a reminder, congress will be back in session this week so we can get back to
working on the House Reps.

I was reading LukieD's post in this thread
http://bringseanhome.org/forums/index.php/topic,3374.15.html  concerning H.R. 3240 and how it
has stalled in the House. We are going to need to work hard. I know some of us have been phoning,
faxing, and sending emails, mainly because of work and being too far away from the Hill. If anyone has any
ideas or different strategies/approaches that might help those of us away from the hill, please
share them. I know there are elections in November, but hopefully, if we keep working on the Reps,
they won't forget about H.R. 3240.

Pam and UD student.   Thank You, so much, for all your hard work and for inspiring us all to keep working at this.   I am going back to work tomorrow, even on my departing rep. who has ignored this so far.  Can't wait for elections to see him make a long overdue exit from the House of Representatives.

Today I resent letters I sent a couple of months ago to my Senators, and my so called representative.
I'm going to resend them once a week, with new supporters mentioned each time.  Maybe an ad in the paper, (emulating Andrew and the interest he was able to garner from the paid ad in the LA Times) for the towns  Carlos other left behind parents
