I have just got off the phone from a conference call with Daisy at OCI and George at the BCA.

To all the Brasilians that support this site you can be very heartened that you have such a wonderful representative of your country working in such a demanding position and someone who does it with a respect and a desire to help the LBP. It is amazing that a country like Brazil can produce people like my wife and Sylvania and then also produce someone like George.

I can tell he is committed to his job and he sees it as more than just a guaranteed paycheck from a 'never can be fired' government job. He has a great sense of pride that his success at his job will be measured by the number of kids that he helps get home not that he was simply there.

To all the LBP, we can thank god, THANK GOD, that this guy is in his job and not in charge of the DMV or something down there as compared to other Brasilians government workers that I encountered when I lived in Brasil for a year he is committed to doing his job.

I made him aware of the measure of praise given him from those who have dealt with others in his position before him, and who have waited months for a piece of paper to be stamped and moved to an outbox. He stated that he treats every case as a priority and I could tell from his tone that he was serious... he is not the problem of any delays and we should remember he is a very well positioned allie.

I asked him about specific cases that are on this site and he could literally recall details of every and all cases and the differences between them that effect how they have encountered delays. I could tell he is attentive to every case he is handling. I am sure there is only soo much that HE can do. But it is better than nothing.

I am waiting now for the AGU to review my case and then file it so the AGU and BCA can arrange for visitation to enable me to see and spend time with Noan. It is now 7 months since he left and 4 months since I had only 3 minutes with him on my visit to Brazil.

Actually all I am waiting for is the chance to get on a plane and see Noan.

Imagine the Central Authority wouldn't pay your legal expenses and you'd probably get kidnapped trying to visit your abducted child. 

Imagine your government had all the facts and statistics and knew the political and legal realities and how to navigate them to help you and were not only not helping you, but fudging the numbers and the facts in a manner that materially obstructed your efforts by preventing you from understanding what was required and preventing others from appreciating how much help is needed.  Actually, stop imagining.  This part actually applies to you.

I have to agree with this. It's great that the BCA has improved their customer service division but let's ask ourselves the obvious question, is a more competent and responsive individual at the BCA going to improve Brazil's performance with the Hague? Is this guy's positive attitude and attentiveness to the cases going to make them move through the courts any faster?

Just watching these STJ judges make fools of themselves doesn't give me much hope. No matter what the BCA says or does, the way Brazil allows these cases to languish in their incredibly slow and inefficient courts speaks volumes about how seriously they take the issue of international parental child abduction.

Think about this for a moment. We know that Judge Pinto is one of the few who gets it down in Brazil, but when his opinions and return orders can be laughed at and mocked by the likes of Marco Aurelio and Nancy Andrighi, there's little to no hope that even if a LBP is fortunate enough to get a return order, the child ever sets foot on an airplane to head home.
