Today Show Update on Goldman case, Feb 26
« on: February 26, 2009, 10:36:35 AM »
The Today Show ran an update on the case this morning. For those wondering, Andrea Mitchell of NBC is covering the story because she is NBC's US State Department correspondent.

joey what do you mean by that? CNN called yesterday morning and rushed out to NJ to do the interview but they were starting from scratch on the coverage as of yesterday. The CNN journalists who reported on it weren't even aware of the case until the NY Times published their article.

CNN used the one interview with David for a number of their programs, American Morning, The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, and they also fed it to CNN International seen around the world. CNN is great exposure because of the international viewers. It adds a nice dimension to the coverage and is part of some cable packages in Brazil also.

Hi Joey,

It had to be due to the emails we all sent.  We had hundreds of supporters sending emails (and asking their friends and family to send) for the full day on Tuesday.  Then they called David Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. Every email went through CNN and the next day the were on the phone for an interview!!!

The New York Times article was not released until Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.

Anyway, It is very exciting news!!!!! International coverage is what we were hoping to achieve from the campaign!!!!

LukieD,

First, congrats for a GREAT JOB OVERALL!

CNN International is part of almost 100% of cable packages in Brazil, so there's a good chance that anyone that has cable will have the chance to check it out.

But I'm sad to report that CNN International programming is just horrible. Very poor production and full focus on Asia and the Middle East reaching no locals at all, who are bored to death.

In any case, the CNN brand carries a lot of weight in the Brazilian newsroom, so someone may be prompted to run a story just like the Brazilian printed press was prompted to run a story after the NYT piece.

We do have both CNN and Fox news on the local Rio cable systems.  CNN intl  is mostly just financial info, kinda like a watered down bloomberg, while the fox is a direct broadcast of what you see in the States.  Still getting o'reilly involved would be a huge step.

However bear in mind that neither of these two stations are widely watched by brazilians seeing as they are not translated or titled into portuguese.
