Resources for reunification
« on: June 25, 2012, 08:45:10 AM »
Are there any resources for reunification and how to approach the negative programming inflicted by the abductor?

Last Friday, I have asked OCI this question:
"If this hearing results in a return order, what kind of assistance is available for reunification. I understand that NCMEC provide travel assistance. But my children will require more: physical exams, therapy, and educational needs. I would like to prepare a comprehensive plan to ensure that my all my childrens needs are taken care of both physically and emotionally."
To Gabriel and Isabel: "Whatever you grow up to be, you will always be my children. I will always love you no mater what happens."

I've asked this question a few times over the years but have never gotten back much of an answer.

My recommendation would be to find professionals in your area on your own.

Don't expect, much less depend upon, any US agency, institution, charity or organization to help you because they almost certainly will not.

If you are the father it is much more likely that after your children are returned these same groups will be supporting the mother who abducted the child to begin with.

Can we start a group?

Seems to reason that if there is a need and there is no entity to meet those needs, why not create a group for that need? I think the number of parental abduction cases is understated because like all lbp's have experienced when going to the athorities, everyone who should know better doesn't and all you hear is "I'm sorry there is nothing we can do" and when compounded with limited family resources or socioeconomic standing I think there are an unfortunate amount of cases that probably never make it on to the state dept radar. But what if there was a group that raised funds and coordinated resources and had intimate knowledge of this arena of family/international law? Does anyone here wish they could go back knowing what we know now?

The organization "Take Root" is the only one I know of to give serious focus to supporting the children who have been victims of child abduction and helping them through the reunification process.  Unfortunately I have had discussions with Take Root as well and they haven't received any real funding for quite some time and have little or no resources to help in such situations.
