Another year has passed without any contact with my children. My son’s 7th Birthday just passed last Monday. It is now three years my children continue to be victimized by this crime.
I am disappointed in the performance of our Government. Department of State diplomacy has resulted in a diminished enforcement. Maybe the DOS higher priority issues in national interest above our children. By not enforcing the IPKCA, maybe the DOJ is not motivated to provide victims’ assistance. For what reasons there may be, there needs to be legally binding steps to resolve child abductions.
I have been exposed to many frauds. Some claim they can return your children for a hefty price. Others claim to be experts although such an expert cannot be validated. Then others are seeking some type of personal gain. I found all these different types of people harmful to my children. There is no way I know of properly vetting these people. I only know the case of my children’s abduction has been vetted by the Virginia Circuit Court as “real” as opposed to “alleged”.
I appreciate David Goldman for bringing awareness to the issue great importance. Unfortunately, I am rather saddened that the H.R. 3212 brings no hope to resolving my case. My children’s abduction provides a blue print to future abductors on how to wrongfully remove a child, how to wrongfully retain a child, ignore jurisdiction, and get away with committing a crime. I know the Dominican Republic is going to do little in response to a compliance report. The President has a phone and a pen. If he does not use it now, why would take one of the discretionary actions under a new law. Even if H.R. 3212 was law 3 years ago, there still would have been nothing to prevent the abduction of my children.
I am thankful for everyone who provided me with financial support. I can now manage paycheck to paycheck with fear of defaulting on my debts. For those performing official duties, I would also like to apologize for any rude, offensive, unethical, or improper behavior from me. I can only plea ignorance and duress for my bad behavior. For the other left behind parents, I pray for your perseverance to do what is right for your children. Although the shoes we walk in look the same, it is not one size fits all. For the Bring Sean Home Foundation, thank you for your support. Please work harder to prevent future abductions and return abducted children.
