A boy taken from his father at the age of 2 has been reunited with his dad eight years later, and the child’s mother is in now in jail.
 
 McKinney police said the boy, now 10-year-old Drew Drees, was abducted in late Dec. 2006. An investigation determined the boy had been taken by his mother, Padmashini Devi Drees. The mother and father had recently divorced.
 
 Police obtained a warrant in Jan. 2007 for Padmashini, and a BOLO was issued for the missing child. The case remained open for many years, and police eventually determined the child had been taken to India.
 
 Investigators monitored Padmashini’s location with the assistance of INTERPOL, the Department of State, United States Customs and other agencies.
 
 The mother recently decided to return to the United States, and that’s when the plan to arrest her went into motion. Padmashini was arrested at DFW Airport on Tuesday night when her flight arrived.

 “We are just so happy to have brought this reunion together,” said Dep. Chief Kim Malolepszy with the McKinney Police Department.
 
 Padmashini faces a charge of interference with child custody, with bond set at $10,000. Police said she could face additional charges.
 
 Padmashini remains in jail and Homeland Security has placed a hold on her, so she cannot bond out.
 
 The father and son were reunited and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Family Advocacy Division are helping with the transition.

 Drew’s father, Dean, remarried and had more children, but never stopped searching for Drew.

 Dean and Drew talked on the phone and over Facebook within the last few months before Padmashini decided it was time for Drew to come home.

 “She wanted to come back and live in America,” said Malolepszy.

How can the public know how many returns are attributed to law enforcement vs diplomacy. Why is this being omitted from the new legislation? Shouldn't there be legislation to support Law enforcement and bind the Department of State to noninterference.
