Title: Letters of Thanks from the Goldman Family
Post by: M.Capestro on December 24, 2009, 01:24:18 PM
Dear BSH Supporters,

I have been asked to share with you the following letters from the Goldman family. The first is a letter is from David Goldman, released to the Associated Press earlier today. The second letter is from Barry & Ellie Goldman, David’s parents, on behalf of the entire Goldman family.

_______________________________________________

Please accept my most sincere and humblest gratitude for getting the truth to Brazilian and American citizens alike and for your help to make our reunion possible.

I am grateful for the so many truly amazing and wonderful people who have put forth an extraordinary and tremendous effort to reunite our family with our beautiful Sean.

Please know that my love and the rest of Sean's family's love for him knows no boundaries and we will go to the ends of the Earth to protect him and shower him with every ounce of love that we have.

It is now time for our new beginning, the rebirth of our family at such a special time of the year. I hope the momentum keeps growing and the attention does not fade because there are more fathers and mothers and children to reunite.

God bless you all,
David

_______________________________________________

On behalf of David’s entire family, we humbly extend our most sincere appreciation to all the members and supporters at Bring Sean Home. Your dedication, diligence, support and prayers have all contributed to making this a very Merry Christmas for our family.

We had an opportunity to speak with David and Sean earlier. Knowing our Sean is finally on his way home, it’s difficult to express the joy we felt hearing that timid voice say “Hi Pop Pop” and "See you soon, Grandma."

Together, we have all accomplished a joyful reunion, but there is still much work to be done. As the Goldman family celebrates the approaching holidays, our hearts remain with the other families who still wait for their stolen children to be returned to them.

We hope you will join us in our continued support of the Bring Sean Home Foundation. Together we can help to reunite all the other left behind parents and children.

God bless you all!

With heartfelt thanks,

Barry and Ellie Goldman
Grandparents of Sean Goldman

That's what I called my grandfather, so you can imagine it hit home for me.

It's very important that they mentioned the other LBP's in both letters. It can't end with just David and Sean..

Great - I am crying all over again!! Beautiful sentiments from a wonderful family - which is now complete with Sean!

I am so happy for you, but I will not stop with Sean.  There are too many not able to celebrate with their children.  David has been an inspiration, and his support system is to be commended for the level of awareness this has brought to the plight of abducted children everywhere.

Lordy - there were times I thought this would never happen. To have it happen on this day is just beyond words.

I'm elated!  Very, very tired however, as I was up till almost 5:00 a.m. Pacific time obsessing over every little detail.  I have so much to do today - with today being Xmas Eve!  But the tired feeling is nothing - it's great.  This really was a "Christmas miracle" and while I don't know any of the Goldman's, my Christmas has actually been MADE by this great news.  I am not one to love Christmas because of all the sadness and hypocrisy I usually witness but this year it feels different.  I am so, so happy for the Goldman's and especially for that dear, adorable boy who has so much healing to do.  Thank you David and everyone for giving us strangers who have been following this, such a happy holiday, vicariously! :)

Dear Goldman Family:

What a wonderful Christmas this is!  There is no greater gift than this joyous and beautiful and too-long-in-coming reunion!  What fortitude and dignity you all have shown!  And how kind of you to acknowledge not only the help of all those who supported your family but the other mothers and fathers whose children have been stripped from them and who are still waiting for their glorious reunion.

Let us pray this Christmas that all parents everywhere will love their children the way you have.  Let us pray that those wayward and unfeeling mothers and fathers who have intentionally separated children from their parents will awaken to the pain and hurt they have caused. Let them put aside the ill feelings they may have for their spouse or ex-spouse and allow the left-behind parents access to the hearts of their children.  Let them come to understand that children are not pawns or bargaining chips but humans who deserve the love of both parents.  As I prepare for Christmas Eve mass, the eve of the day of the birth of a child, I will remember in thanks the Goldman family and remember in hope all the other left-behind parents.   The joy in my heart is boundless, my gratitude limitless -- and I have never met David or Sean.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all the Goldmans and to all here.  Wheels up and let the healing begin!

David Briggs

Dear Goldman family,

We on the "outside" are so blessed by your strength, hope and courage.  I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it must have been and be to have to share your highs and lows in public with strangers, but by doing this, you have changed me for the better.

Thank you so very, very much for the beautiful letters that were posted in this thread.  You certainly didn't have to do that, especially at a time when your hearts and minds must be racing with excitement.  It is yet another quality to admire.

Lately, there is one thought that keeps crossing my mind, "We're not here just to love the people we know.  That's the easy part.  It's about loving and believing in people you've never met personally or will ever meet.  It's about loving and doing backflips when miracles happen to complete strangers."  I'd like to think that I was this kind of person before I heard about Mr. Goldman, his son Sean and your families, but I realise now I didn't have a clue about true love and heart.

Thank you so very, very much.

Kind regards,

m1987

To the Goldman family,

You are more than welcome. It has been an honor to have been there through the good and the bad this last year and to have helped in any small way. Thank you for being a shining example of what Americans and Parents can truly be. So often in the news we read about bad examples of both, you have been a refreshing change. Your courage, caring and integrity are inspiring. I and my family wish you the very happiest of holidays and hope the road to recovery for you all is short and easy.

Dear Goldman Family,
I am a mother, how could I not support your valiant effort to bring your son/grandson home?  Once I heard the story I only had to put myself in your shoes and my heart broke for you.  Your struggle is a testiment to your immense love for Sean, you never gave up, never stooped to the level of that of the abductors, and ALWAYS put Sean first.  It was an honor to support your fight.  I wish you the Merriest of Christmases and a peaceful (and private!) New Year!

WOW!!  Impeccably stated.  You found the words I could not.  (I stayed up until nearly 5:00 AM this morning, waiting to hear "wheels up" .... ).

Since hearing David's story for the first time in January, I have prayed so many prayers.  I picked up the phone and called the White House, the Secretary of State, and even wrote an e-mail to the Brazilian President (all of which are firsts for me).

In this world of so many fathers who are absent physically or emotionally, when you see a father like David Goldman, with such strength, perseverance, and determination to fight for his son ... I don't know how to NOT care about  them and do what you can do for a stranger.

God bless David & Sean.  Together at last!

Goldman family,

I cannot imagine the happiness you are feeling now....specially when I think that in this xmas day I could not be happier!!!!

I am not related, not a friend, not American, not Brazilian, I don't have kids (yet!!!), and haven't ever been close to a LBP case...until I knew David and Sean.

It has been a pleasure getting to know your son's heart, strength, and integrity, and be part of this journey. He is a great man, Sean is a great kid and I believe it all comes from the education and values you raised him with.

Merry xmas and a happy life next to David & Sean

And We lift our Champagne Toast to you, Goldman Family. Dad David, Pop Pop and Grandma. What a testament to the love of family, something we all need to remember and enjoy this time of year.

What also a show of grace and truth to the other Grandmother in Brazil. The difference in the TRUE and honest love of Sean. Who could ever argue that one grandparent is more valued than another? Who could disagree that Sean deserves the love of all of his family. Unfortunately, the Brazilian family has shown they cared more about (who knows what) than the love Sean deserved to enjoy from this entire Goldman family.

I am soooooooooo thrilled for Sean to be able to see his grandparents after all these years, and to think David can begin to enjoy his life again. And Sean will flourish.

Happy Holidays and Happy new Life Goldman family.

Dear Goldman Family,

Here I am, bawling again after reading your message. I am truly honored for being a part of BSH and being able to witness Sean & David reunite after so many years of heartache.

I am at a loss of words, but I keep thinking back to the letter (http://bringseanhome.org/forum/showpost.php?p=4364&postcount=18) I wrote to Sean many months ago (one of my first posts on this forum). Please watch this video between 7:38 and 7:52. That makes me cry every time, especially today.

I hope David is right and your experience brings awareness to other mothers and fathers who are in the same situation.

Happy Holidays! - Santa was extremely generous this year :)

Dear David:
From everything I've been able to read today on this site, it sounds like Sean is adjusting just fine but why wouldn't he? Words cannot express how much I respect you for the person that you are. Your strength and patience throughout this ordeal is truly amazing. Sean is very lucky to have such a kind and loving Dad in his life. Your reunion with Sean is a blessing for all of us to enjoy. This is a very special holiday season just knowing that you can now rest, and live your life again with your son. I am overjoyed for you and Sean and all of the Goldman family.

God bless you all.
Merry Christmas!

Dear Goldman family,

For those of us in Brazil, it has been a pleasure to try to help you in such a difficult situation.

Your fight has been ours for the past year or so.

May your life with Sean be blessed with joy and great spirits just as ours are currently filled. You deserve it like no one else this year.

A little too late for Happy Hannukah, but still in time for a great 2010!

I'm out of words to express how happy I am for David, Sean,Grandpa,Grandma, Aunties, Uncles and cousins of Sean.
Been holding my tears since last Thursday and now I cry like a "The Pagliacci" in that Leoncavallo's opera, hehehe.
To the Goldman family, wishing you a wonderful future is kind of being repetitive but still, with all my heart.
I'm very proud of David and I am sure Sean will have all David traits in how to be a good  and honest person with high morals and sense of justice.
Thank you, Mr. and Mrs Goldman for raising a man who really inspired me.May God continuously bless your reunited family.

I am just so unbelievably proud of David. He has been through the fight of his life, the longest five years anyone could imagine, and won. He is one man, that fought against an army, and won. What those people did was vicious, conniving and hurtful to David AND Sean, but his undying love for Sean gave him strength, and he WON!  Everything that Sean and David had, they still have, and no one can take that away. This is truly an AWESOME Day! The Bring Sean Home Foundation are the most amazing group of feisty, driven, commited, and extremely SMART people,an absolute force to be reckoned with, that helped this miracle come true. I can't imagine a better way to start the New Year. Happy Holidays To EVERYONE!

As the pundits theorized about Sean, David, the psychological implications, and on and on infinitum (and ad nauseum, in some cases), I switched off the television and thought about how a group of mostly strangers, people linked together by the injustice done to Sean, David, the entire Goldman family and many other families, came together across cultures and languages and supported what was so obviously right. What a day of joyful beginnings. I, for one, am grateful that I will no longer be hearing the outrageous comments from Tostes and the Brazilian abductors (I've never had it in me to call them Sean's family; surely the title should be, at least in part, earned?); that march through the streets of Rio said it all, didn't it? It was one final punch in the gut to David and, even worse, one final assault on Sean. Thank God they will not be in a position to abuse him any longer.

If the Goldmans read this someday when things settle down, let me add my voice to the rest in praising your steadfast focus on Sean's well-being, your absolute refusal to stoop to the level of his abductors, despite five plus years of attempts to goad you into it. I admire you all so much for how you have handled this whole nightmare, and if there is a special corner of heaven for people of gentleness and good faith where a child's happiness is concerned, it's yours. For now, I am certain that Sean will adjust far, far more rapidly than many think; he must feel tremendous relief to be out of the toxic, anger-fueled atmosphere he was in, where attempts were constantly being made to force him to renounce the father he so obviously loves.

I am rejoicing for you, today. You deserve all the happiness in the world.

Laura

The Bring Sean Home Foundation are the most amazing group of feisty, driven, commited, and extremely SMART people,an absolute force to be reckoned with, that helped this miracle come true. Hi David, Sean,

I am so happy for you.  It is a great day for all children and hopefully only a start in a continued push to end Child Abduction.  There is no more Berlin Wall, Women can vote in most countries and Aparthide is finished!!

We can make a difference when we all say something as simple a child abduction must end.

My son was abducted to France in 2001, against SF court orders.  The judge was holding Peter's American and French passports, but the French government issued his mother a second passport and welcomed her home.  Issued her a full custody and child support of 625.00 euros/mo....all the while telling the US State Dept and me that she was a fugitive and they were looking for Peter.....I guess they forgot to look in the court houses and attorney's offices in Paris :-)

Long story short,  8yrs later and Peter and I still can't see each other and I have been living less than 20 miles from him in Grenoble France, the whole time.  Last time we met was April 2005, no not on April 1st, but it would have been appropriate for me.

Now I will be inprisioned for refusing to pay the back child support of $50,000.00 she was awarded from when she was in hiding and blocking the court proccdedured.  In 2006 the child support was finely adjusted to my actual income since quiting my work in SF.  ...Let's just say I make a little less now as a part time English Teacher in France :-) ....  So my monthly payments count toward the debt....and I have been convicted 3 times of "Abandoment of the Family" rather ironic and now I will start serving 18 months.....

No senators or TV reporters yet...so away I go....

When will we all say together that Child abduction can not be supported.

Full Stop.

Send the attorneys home.

Send the children home.

Cherish your victory.

Don't forget the rest of us.

Merry Christmas and a New Year full of Love and Joy,

Craig Alciati

Peter-Spencer Alciati's father.

Add me to the chorus of people crying.....

It's Christmas morning and my house if full of family members. My six year old twins just finished opening up gifts from Santa and the rest of the family has retreated for coffee and the traditional sticky buns.....

....and what I am doing?

Checking on the computer for news of the Goldman family--a family that does not know me from Adam but whose plight I have followed closely for almost a year. So many things touched me about your story--from David's dedication, to his nearly impossible odds, to his grace and spirit to thoughts of Sean.....whose arrival at this country mirrors my own as I moved here to the US as a ten year old. So many thoughts about this but mainly that I am excited for Sean to discover his father AND this incredibly country he will come to call home.

I am so proud of all of you. From another home in NJ, full of strangers you have never met, I want to send you an incredibly heartfelt congratulations. Something magical has happened indeed, but I don't think it's just the reunion. I think David's quiet dignity in his relentless pursuit of his son has made a giant sound wave across the world and has made people like me THINK closely about other custody cases. For anyone reading this who is still in pursuit of their children, have hope. Things are "a-changing"....

Best wishes,

C and the gang!

Dear Goldman Family,

I wrote a note yesterday, but my nephew said something this morning, Christmas morning, and I wanted to share it with you.  My nephew is 8 1/2 years old and an only child, so, needless to say, I often worry because he is quite spoilt when it comes to material goods.  He has such a huge heart though, so I think it's balanced.  He tore through all of his Christmas presents and is always thoughtful and grateful.  After he opened all of his gifts, he looked up and said, "I got everything I wanted for Christmas!"  Then he got very quiet and added, "And even that that little boy, I can't remember his name, but he's back with his daddy this Christmas!  My wish came true for him too!"

We all got very choked up when he said that, and I think that every single one of us had the most magnificent picture in our minds of what this morning must have looked like for all of you.

Kind regards,
m1987

To David, Sean and the Goldman Family,

As we sit around exchanging gifts this holiday we are saying a special prayer of thanks for the wonderful reunion of your family.

It is so spectacular to see David with Sean! It is even better yet to know that Sean is surrounded by people who will only be concerned with his best interest and shower him with an unconditional love.

You have many years of love to catch up on, and many more years of love to give. Squeeze him extra tight for us at BSH. We will continue to work toward the reunion of all left behind parents and their children.

God Bless you and your family.

wow, reading through all the posts in this thread makes me want to hugg the world.

It amazes me how this whole ordeal with such an incredible happy ending not only gives back a family their son, grandson, etc, but gives back to all and every single person who bothered to even just listen to this story. We all seem very touched and inspired and hopeful. Isn't that what Christmas is all about?

But I'm also thinking of the many other dads and moms that are still battling to get their kids back or at least to get shared custody. I hope for them that this happy end gives them hope and strength to keep fighting for their child (ren) to have both parents in their lives instead of just one.

I think what I'm trying to say is that if we do the right thing, care about the person standing next to us, incredible things can be made possible, mountains can be moved. It is about doing one more thing 'than we have' to touch and change other people lives. And it is so contagious.

Merry Christmas to all of you, it was a pleasure to be part of a truly 'mountain moving' experience.

Dear David and the Goldman Family,
I have been following this story for a year and helping from afar. I have never been so happy for a family in all my life. I am a nurse and have passed David's story on at work, so many joined and took interest. It is so warm knowing that so many came together to help. Many nurses are constantly asking if David will write a book? A book of his thoughts and experiences? My thoughts are with him and his son. We were so rejoiced with his victory . Thankyou for sharing your story and touching my heart so deeply. I will continue to follow the BSH foundation to help many others. David you did it!! David, congratulations from the bottom of my heart. We have all loved you, your family and especially Sean from afar. God Bless and enjoy your sweetie.

My family and I were involved too with this case especially when they see me so passionate about it by writing to the people that needs to be touch
and including you David and Sean in our daily prayers. My co- workers in the hospital noticed how involved i was because i always call their attention especially if there are some updates on the TODAY show. The day that Sean was surrendered to David the nurses in my unit was so happy of the outcome.
David and Sean you touch my life more than anything and made me appreciate that God winks into many miracles.
I wish you the best for the coming year, a peaceful NEW LIFE.

You Goldmans are gold!
All of you are such special people and the country has grown to love, respect and admire David Goldman for the wonderful human being he is. He patience, his calm, his enduring love of his son has touched so many of us.

The pain and absolute insanity of dealing with that Brazilian family must have been a terrible nightmare. I am sickened by their inhumane actions.

I look forward to reading any book or movie that David is a part of and will happily contribute to help defray his costs of this fight.

Dear Goldman Family,

I have been doing what I can to help bring Sean home since September 2008. It has been an experience that I will not forget and an honor beyond words. The ending could not have been better scripted either. The whole Goldman family has shown what true belief, what real family means and how far love extends. The Goldman family had many opportunities to bad mouth, to allow their anger and hurt to show in interviews, however they did not. They only allowed, they only showed their love, their deep concern and their true dedication to Sean and bringing him home.
On December 24th inside the US Consulate in Rio when Sean was finally turned over to David, his former mother -in-law asked if she can visit Sean. Again, David showed his maturity, his love for his son and what is really important in his answer to her; " I will not do to you, what you have done to me!!" He even gave her a hug so that Sean could see that there was not a problem.
I am absolutely esatatic that Sean is home, that the Goldman family is complete again. I wish each one of them, especially David & Sean only the very best as they begin the long road of healing, reunion and living together permanently.

take care.

Hello David and family.

I hereby speak on behalf of all brazilian citizens that were hoping you and your son would be together, and this day has finally come! Our sincere apologies for all the inconvenience and trouble our government caused you through all these years. Our gov doesn't even help ourselves, it wouldn't be different with an American citizen. Preventing a child to live with their own father, is not rational at all.

Congratulations!! Happy New Year to you and your now complete family.

Regards,

I'm so VERY proud of the way this group of people here at the BSH family handled any task we were set to do to help.  We were on the right side of the truth, never lowered to levels that dipped to a black hole at times, and kept eachother in line when needed and picked eachother up as well, over and over!  There are many here that are now life long friends to me, and many more parents I'm ready to keep helping.

I myself got a SPECIAL surprise in my own case w/my son...I can look to David as an example, and we're now more organized to deal with copy cat issues that are NOW still at hand.

Are you ready to help the next several hundred...?  On your mark, get set, GO >>>>>>>>
